Forget About Work-Life Balance – Part II

by | Blog

The task of creating work-life balance can sometimes feel just too challenging. In those cases, it might be fruitful to have another perspective. One way to think about it, is to notice that just by having opposing forces, a push-pull is created that keeps you from being fully overwhelmed by either.

So instead of viewing your work-self and your home-self as at odds with each other, notice if each one keeps the other in equilibrium. Having to go to work all day creates the awareness to consciously choose to make the family dinner a sacred time. Finding meaning in work may stem from seeing the impact it has on raising a family. The support of a partner at home, fuels the ambitions of a career that allows it to take flight. The bottom line is the balance is in the noticing and in not taking anything for granted.

“A true balance between work and life comes with knowing that your life activities are integrated, not separated.”
