Mindfulness on the Best Seller List

by | Blog

The research on the positive impact mindfulness practice has on health, well-being, leadership and education has been burgeoning in the last several years.  Currently, it’s even showing up on the bestseller lists as well known and highly accomplished people have written about making mindfulness a part of their formula for success and fulfillment.

After experiencing a panic attack live on Good Morning America, ABC newscaster Dan Harris realized he had to take a honest look at his priorities and what he was giving meaning to in his life.  The book, 10% Happier chronicles his journey as a meditation skeptic to the positive impact he has found in practicing mindfulness.

In a similar situation, Arianna Huffington began to question our western view of success and how to get there when she took a fall and broke her cheekbone due to exhaustion from overwork.   In Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder, Huffington talks about the idea of not just reaching for for money and power but to invest in our ability to develop our intuition, (self)-compassion and meaning.  Mindfulness practice is one way she advocates for us to cultivate these qualities, personally, professionally and everything in between.
